Vehicle Speed Sensor: Description and Operation

Purpose
Provides vehicle speed signal to operate speedometer/odometer; additionally, the speed signal is sent from the instrument cluster to the engine control module for calculations requiring this input.

Operation
Sensor is an alternating current generator. Voltage output varies with vehicle speed.
