Disconnect IAC valve connector. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between IAC valve terminals. See IAC RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS table. If resistance is not within specification, replace IAC valve.

Millenia, MPV & Protege 1.8L (1) 10.7-12.3
Protege 1.5L & 626 2.0L (2) 7.7-9.3
626 2.5L (2) 8.7-10.5
(1) With IAC valve temperature at 60°F (20)°C.
(2) With IAC valve temperature at 73°F (23)°C.
