Draining & Refilling

WARNING: When the transaxle and ATF are hot, they can cause severe burns. Turn off the engine and wait until they are cool before changing the ATF.
  1. Remove the transaxle dipstick. Raise and support vehicle. Remove the drain plug and washer. See Fig 1 . Drain the ATF into a container. Install a new washer on the drain plug. Install drain plug and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  2. Add transmission fluid through the transmission fluid filler tube until ATF level reaches lower notch of dipstick. Fill the transaxle with appropriate fluid to proper level and check for correct transaxle operation. See CHECKING FLUID LEVEL & CONDITION  .
