Module Does Not Respond To The Diagnostic Tool - Smart Junction Box (SJB)

PINPOINT TEST 1 - MODULE DOES NOT RESPOND TO DIAGNOSTIC TOOL - SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB)

PINPOINT TEST 1 MODULE DOES NOT RESPOND TO THE DIAGNOSTIC TOOL - SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB)
STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 CHECK THE SJB CONNECTORS FOR DAMAGE
  • Key OFF.
  • Disconnect SJB J-2280d.
  • Inspect the SJB J-2280d connector for damage.
  • Is the SJB J-2280d connector OK? 
Yes Go to step 2
No Repair the SJB J-2280d connector. Carry out the data link diagnostics test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS TEST .
2 CHECK ISO COMMUNICATION CIRCUIT LB/W BETWEEN THE DLC D-01 AND THE SJB J-2280d FOR AN OPEN
  • Measure the resistance between the DLC D-01 pin 7, circuit LB/W, harness side and the SJB J-2280d pin 7, circuit LB/W, harness side.
  • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
Yes Go to step 3.
No Repair the circuit. Carry out the data link diagnostics test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS TEST .
3 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION
  • Disconnect all SJB connectors.
  • Check for:
    • corrosion
    • pushed-out pins
  • Connect all SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
  • Key ON.
  • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
  • Is the concern still present? 
Yes Replace the SJB.
See SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION . Carry out the data link diagnostics test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS TEST .
No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. Clear the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. Carry out the data link diagnostics test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS TEST .
