Variable Valve Timing Solenoid: Service and Repair

OIL CONTROL VALVE (OCV) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [AJ]

RH bank
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the plug hole plate.
3. Remove the dynamic chamber.
4. Remove the ignition coil.
5. Remove the OCV connector.
6. Remove the ventilation hose.
7. Remove the cylinder head cover tightening bolt.





8. Remove the OCV with cylinder head cover raised as shown in the figure.

Note:
^ Take care not to let the OCV tightening bolt slip into the timing chain cover when removing the OCV tightening bolt from engine front.

9. Install the OCV.
Tightening torque 8.0 - 12.0 Nm (82 - 122 kgf-cm, 71 - 106 inch lbs.)
10. Install the cylinder head cover.
11. Install the ventilation hose.
12. Install the OCV connector.
13. Install the ignition coil.
14. Install the plug hole plate.
15. Install the dynamic chamber.

LH bank
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the plug hole plate.
3. Remove the ignition coil.
4. Remove the OCV connector.
5. Remove the ventilation hose.
6. Remove the cylinder head cover.
7. Remove the OCV.





8. Install the OCV
Tightening torque 8.0 - 12.0 Nm (82 - 122 kgf-cm, 71 - 106 inch lbs.)
9. Install the cylinder head cover.
10. Install the ventilation hose.
11. Install the OCV connector.
12. Install the ignition coil.
13. Install the plug hole plate.
