Possible Causes

CAUTION:

Use the correct probe adaptor(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adaptor(s) may damage the connector.

SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB) DOES NOT RESPOND TO DIAGNOSTIC TOOL PINPOINT TEST REFERENCE

STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	CHECK THE SJB CONNECTORS FOR DAMAGE Key OFF. Disconnect: SJB J-2280d. Inspect the SJB J-2280d for damage. Is the SJB J-2280d OK?	Yes	Go to next step.
1		No	Repair the SJB J-2280d. Carry out the WDS or equivalent tester data link test.
2	CHECK THE ISO 9141 CIRCUIT BETWEEN THE DLC AND THE SJB FOR AN OPEN Measure the resistance between the DLC D-01 pin 7, circuit (LB/W), harness side and the SJB J-2280d pin 7, circuit (LB/W), harness side. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?	Yes	Go to See step 3.
2		No	Repair circuit (LB/W) for an open. Connect SJB J-2280d. Carry out the WDS or equivalent tester data link test.
3	CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION Disconnect all the SJB connectors. Check for: corrosion push-out pins Connect all the connectors and make sure they seat correctly. Operate the system and verify the concern is still present. Is the concern still present?	Yes	Install a new SJB. See SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB) . Carry out the WDS or equivalent tester data link test.
3		No	The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. Clear the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). Repeat the self-test. Carry out the WDS or equivalent tester data link test.
