Transmission Temperature Sensor/Switch: Testing and Inspection

TRANSAXLE FLUID TEMPERATURE (TFT) SENSOR INSPECTION [FS5A-EL]

CAUTION:
- Do not allow foreign material or water to penetrate the connector. Otherwise, it could cause poor contact and corrosion.

On-Vehicle Inspection

1. Disconnect the coupler component connector.
a. Remove the battery cover. Removal and Replacement

b. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

c. Remove the air cleaner component. Service and Repair

d. Disconnect the coupler component connector.






2. Measure the resistance between coupler component terminals E and H.






- If there is any malfunction, replace the coupler component. Service and Repair

ATF temperature resistance





Part Inspection

1. Put the TFT sensor into a beaker filled with ATF and gradually warm the ATF.






WARNING:
- Do not touch the ATF and beaker. Otherwise, it could cause severe burns or serious injury from the high temperature.

2. Measure the resistance between coupler component terminals E and H.






- If there is any malfunction, replace the coupler component.
