If needed, refer to "Downloading Update Software to a USB Memory Stick (for additional USB memory sticks)" below.
Downloading Update Software to a USB Memory Stick (for additional USB memory sticks)
- Install the USB memory stick with a minumum 2G of memory into the USB port of a computer with internet access.NOTE: The update files can also be copied from one USB memory stick to another.
- Go to "Start" and select "Computer," then double-click on the memory stick "removable disk" (A).NOTE: The memory stick may have a different name. Look for "Removable Disk."

To switch the ignition position without starting the engine, press the START/STOP ENGINE push button without depressing the pedal.NOTE: If the ignition is left in the ACC position it will automatically switch off after 25 minutes. Pressing and releasing the clutch pedal (Manual Transaxle) or the brake pedal (Automatic Transaxle) before 25 minutes resets the timer to ensure the vehicle does not switch off during the reflash process.
- Verify that there is a sound coming from the speakers. If sound cannot be heard, turn the volume dial (A) to turn the volume up, or make sure that MUTE is not on.NOTE: When sound is heard from the speakers, the system is in stand-by condition.

- Push the commander switch knob (A) to "Enter".
- Press the three buttons (Music (A) + Favorites (B) + Volume Mute(C)) on the commander switch at the same time for 2-5 seconds and the Diagnostic Test Screen will appear.
- On the test screen, input '3' and then select "ENTER" to verify whether any DTCs (in the CMU) are active. Select "CLEAR" to go to next step.
- If any DTCs are present, input '2' on the test screen and then select "ENTER". This will internally clear all the earlier set DTCs (in the CMU). Select "CLEAR" to go to next step.
- Use the touchscreen or the commander switch to input '99' and then select "ENTER" on the Test screen.

- After the update is completed with the above right screen, confirm that the push button start indicator light is illuminated (amber) and the display in the instrument cluster is OFF (ignition is in "ACC"). If the ignition is "OFF" and the push button start indicator light is not illuminated (amber), turn the ignition to "ACC" and one of the following two screens will be displayed.
Type A: Reprogramming has already been completed. Go to next step.
Type B: The ignition was turned "OFF" during the reflashing process. This screen will continue to be displayed until reflashing is completed. After the reflashing is completed, go to next step.

2014 Mazda3 - Mazda Connect Infotainment System Software Update
Mazda Motor Corporation has decided to conduct a Mazda Service Program (MSP) on certain 2014 Mazda3 vehicles equipped with Mazda Connect Infotainment System and produced between June 11, 2013 and November 26, 2013.
An updated version of the software for the Connectivity Master Unit (CMU) for certain 2014 Mazda3 vehicles is now available. Under MSP41, dealers will reprogram the CMU of applicable Mazda3 vehicles to the updated version. This software update includes the Infotainment System fixes described below, plus some additional minor fixes.
- "Charging System Malfunction" message may display on the center display by mistake (no display on the instrument panel).
- The Voice Recognition may not activate even when pressing the talk button.
- The warning of "Check XM Antenna" may be continuously displayed on the center display.
The CMU reprogramming software is provided on a flash drive being shipped to your dealership and should arrive during the week of November 25, 2013.
After reprogramming is completed, all Favorites settings, radio presets, and phone pairing will be lost. For customer cars, these settings must be reset after the vehicle is returned.
Mazda is working to make further improvements to the Mazda Connect Infotainment System software, and may issue a future MSP to improve system performance.
MSP41 should be completed on all applicable vehicles in dealer inventory and when owners bring their vehicles for maintenance or other service/warranty work. Please inform the customer that the Connectivity Master Unit will be reprogrammed to the updated calibration, free of charge.
Warranty claims for MSP41 will be accepted during the Mazda's New Vehicle Limited Warranty term of 36 months or 36,000 miles. DSM authorization is required if the vehicle is outside the New Vehicle Limited Warranty term.
A Mazda Service Program (MSP) is designed to improve customer satisfaction and reduce customer inconvenience. However, MSPs are limited to correcting issues that do not substantially affect vehicle durability, reliability, or performance. Vehicle owners are not notified by mail for MSPs.
Like a Recall or SSP, eMDCS will display MSP41 in an eMDCS Warranty Vehicle Inquiry on an applicable vehicle. The eMDCS system will display "OPEN" if the MSP repair has not been performed. It displays "CLOSED" if it has already been performed. Select the blue MSP41 on eMDCS to open Service Bulletin 09-034/13, which provides repair procedures and warranty claim submission information. You can also access this bulletin on the MS3 site on MXConnect. A copy of the bulletin is enclosed for your convenience.
For technical assistance, call the Technical Assistance Hotline at (888) 832-8477. Select Option 3 for an English-speaking Hotline Specialist or Option 4 for a Spanish-speaking Hotline Specialist.
