Passenger-Side Air Bag Module Removal/Installation [Standard Deployment Control System]: Notes

  • The passenger-side air bag module is installed to the dashboard by brackets B and C.

  1. Switch the ignition off.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more  . (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5] .)
  3. Remove the glove compartment. (See GLOVE COMPARTMENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  4. Remove the Bluetooth unit. (with Bluetooth system) (See BLUETOOTH UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  5. Remove the fastener (grove box light harness).
  6. Remove the screw and nut.
  7. Remove bracket A.

  8. Remove the screw and nut. (See SCREW INSTALLATION NOTE .)
  9. Remove bracket B.

  10. Remove the nut.
  11. Remove bracket C.

  12. Detach the hooks from the dashboard (1).

  13. Move the passenger-side air bag module in the direction of the arrow (2)
  14. Disconnect the connector.
  15. Remove the passenger-side air bag module.
  16. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  17. Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).
  18. Verify that the air bag system warning light illuminates for approx. 6 s  and turns off.
    • If the air bag system warning light does not operate, refer to the on-board diagnostic system (air bag system) and perform inspection of the system. (See FLOWCHART [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] .)
