Rear Map Light Removal/Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2021 Mazda 3. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
  • The rear map light can be removed without having to remove the headliner from the vehicle.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION (US) .)
  2. Remove the following parts:
    1. Front map light (See FRONT MAP LIGHT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (US) .)
    2. Sun visor (See SUNVISOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    3. Assist handle (See ASSIST HANDLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    4. A-pillar trim (See A-PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    5. Front seat belt lower anchor (See FRONT SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    6. B-pillar upper trim (See B-PILLAR UPPER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    7. Trunk side upper trim (Hatchback-5HB) (See TRUNK SIDE UPPER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    8. C-pillar trim (See C-PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    9. Shift lever knob (MTX) (See SHIFT LEVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [C66M-R] .)
    10. Selector lever knob (ATX) (See SELECTOR LEVER COMPONENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    11. Shift panel (See SHIFT PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    12. Front console box (See FRONT CONSOLE BOX REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    13. Cup holder (See CUP HOLDER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    14. Side wall (See SIDE WALL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    15. Rear console (See REAR CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (US) .)
    16. Rear console bracket No. 1 (See REAR CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (US) .)
    17. Headliner (See HEADLINER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (US) .)
  3. Disconnect the connector.

    CAUTION:
    • When removing the rear map light from the bracket, the rear map light may fall off and be damaged. Remove the rear map light from the bracket while holding the rear map light on the lens side by hand.
  4. Move the bracket in the direction of the arrow (1) shown in the figure, and press the center map light in the direction of the arrow (2) shown in the figure to detach the center map light tab from the bracket.

  5. Remove the rear map light.

  6. Install in the reverse order of removal.
