Intention of troubleshooting procedure

P2237-00: (PCM - SKYACTIV-G) TROUBLESHOOTING DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

Step Inspection Results Action
1 PURPOSE: INSPECT WIRING HARNESS (INCLUDING CONNECTOR/TERMINAL) BETWEEN A/F SENSOR AND PCM FOR MALFUNCTION  Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform repair completion verification 1.
2 PURPOSE: DETERMINE INTEGRITY OF A/F SENSOR 
  • Start the engine and warm it up.
  • Using the M-MDS, display the PCM PID [A/F_SEN_CUR]. (See PID/DATA MONITOR INSPECTION .)
  • Drive the vehicle under the following conditions.
    WARNING:
    • To prevent an accident, work with another person when the vehicle is being driven (one person drives vehicle, other person operates M-MDS)  .
    • Observe legal speed limits when driving the vehicle and perform the procedure in a location where safety can be ensured. 
    • After increasing the engine speed to 3, 000 rpm, decelerate using engine braking.
  • Is the displayed PID value as follows?
    • A/F_SEN_CUR: 0.25 mA or more
Yes Go to the next step.
No Replace the A/F sensor and perform repair completion verification 1.
(Refer to AIR FUEL RATIO (A/F) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G (WITH CYLINDER DEACTIVATION)] in service information.)
Repair completion verification 1 PURPOSE: VERIFY IF VEHICLE IS REPAIRED 
  • Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure.
  • Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC .)
  • Replicate the vehicle conditions at the time the DTC was detected using the following procedure.
  • Perform the DTC inspection for the PCM. (See DTC INSPECTION .)
  • Is the same DTC displayed?
Yes Refer to the CAN (controller area network) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error.
(See MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN)] .)
If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1 again.
No Go to the next step.
Repair completion verification 2 PURPOSE: VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs OCCURRED SIMULTANOUSLY 
  • Perform the DTC inspection. (See DTC INSPECTION .)
  • Are other DTCs displayed?
Yes Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No DTC troubleshooting completed.
