Climate Control Unit Removal/Installation

WARNING:

Handling the air bag module improperly can accidentally deploy the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. CAUTION:

When replacing the climate control unit, perform the configuration to assure that the system operates correctly.

To replace the climate control unit, perform the following procedure.
1. Front doors on both sides and trunk lid (4SD) or liftgate (5HB) are open.
Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
Remove the following parts:
1. Selector lever knob (ATX) (See SELECTOR LEVER COMPONENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
2. Shift lever knob (MTX) (See SHIFT LEVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [C66M-R] .)
3. Shift panel (See SHIFT PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
4. Front console box (See FRONT CONSOLE BOX REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
5. Cup holder (without wireless charger (Qi)) (See CUP HOLDER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
6. Wireless charger (Qi) (with wireless charger (Qi)) (See WIRELESS CHARGER (Qi) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
7. Side wall (See SIDE WALL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
8. Rear console (See REAR CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
9. Driver-side front scuff plate (See FRONT SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
10. Driver-side front side trim (See FRONT SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
11. Driver-side decoration panel (See DECORATION PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
12. Passenger-side decoration panel (See DECORATION PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
13. Hood release lever (See HOOD RELEASE LEVER AND RELEASE CABLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
14. Driver-side lower panel (See LOWER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
15. Driver-side knee air bag module (See KNEE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA/ISRAEL SPEC.] .)
16. Center lower panel (See LOWER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
Remove the screws.

Remove the climate control unit while detaching the pins.
Disconnect the connectors.
Install in the reverse order of removal.
When replacing the climate control unit, perform the climate control unit configuration using the M-MDS. (Refer to [CONFIGURATION] in the service information.)
