Charge Sub-battery
WARNING:
- Keep all flames away from the sub battery and perform the servicing in a well-ventilated area. Otherwise, evaporated gas from the sub battery could ignite.
- Do not perform battery charging with the battery in the vehicle as it is dangerous.
- When connecting to the battery charger, make sure that the battery cables are connected correctly. (Refer to the following figure below)
COMPONENT OPERATIONS
| Component No. | Refer to |
|---|---|
| 1 | Positive terminal |
| 2 | Positive cable |
| 3 | Negative terminal |
| 4 | Negative cable |
CAUTION:
- Because the sub-battery is a sealed, maintenance-free battery, quick charging may result in damage to the sub-battery.
- Switch the ignition OFF/switch the main power OFF and after 30 min or more have elapsed, measure the voltage at the sub-battery terminal and determine the sub-battery charging time from the table.MEASURED VALUE SPECIFICATION
Measured value (sub-battery temperature: 20 4dgC {68 4dgF}) Charging time (minutes) 12.8 V or more 100 12.6 V or more 120 12.4 V or more 150 12.2 V or more 180 12.0 V or more 200 Less than 12.0 V 260 - Connect the charger to the sub-battery and adjust the charge current as follows.
- Charging current: 2 A
- Verify that the sub-battery terminal voltage is the standard or more after 30 min or more have elapsed since the charging stopped.
- If not within the standard, replace the sub-battery. (See SUB BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
Standard voltage
- 12.8 V or more
- Secure the sub-battery to the vehicle and connect the positive and negative cables.
- Display PID [BATT_2_SOH_VOLT] using the M-MDS.
- Verify that the PID [BATT_2_SOH_VOLT] value is as specified.
- If not within the standard, replace the sub-battery. (See SUB BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
Standard voltage
- 11.5 V or more
