Air Flow Sensor Plate: Installation

  1. Install components included in repair kit. Insert air flow sensor plate (identified by 5 punch marks) in a upward direction. Slightly tighten micro-encapsulated fastening screw (self-locking).
  2. To center air flow sensor plate, remove plug for fuel pump relay. Bridge terminals 7 and 8, to build up fuel pressure.
  3. Using a slip gauge of approximately 5 mm, insert gage so that air flow sensor plate is properly centered. Air flow sensor plate should not bind even under slight lateral pressure (with no bearing play). Tighten fastening screw and mount stop bracket. See Fig 1 .
  4. Check air flow sensor plate for easy operation. Push plate down manually. Sensor plate should not bind. Release plate, when moving back sensor plate should also not bind and should audibly knock against resilient stop. Center plate, if required.
  5. Check 0 position (rest position) of air flow sensor plate. Upper edge of air flow sensor plate should be flush with upper edge of cylinder part on air funnel. A level higher by up to a maximum of .2 mm is admissible.
  6. Adjust 0 position of air flow sensor plate. If too high, gently knock guide pin deeper as required. If too low, remove mixture controller and knock out guide pin from below.
