Electronic Idle Speed Test

  1. Connect test cable of Bosch Tester (KDJE P 600) to idle speed air valve. Push IR 100% button. Engine at idle and operating temperature. Reading should be 27-29% at approx. 750 RPM. If okay, end of test. If not okay, go to step 2).
  2. If reading is higher or lower, adjust to nominal value or test microswitch. If reading is 0, test voltage on plug for idle speed air valve. Use pin socket 2 to ground, should read approx. 12 volts. If reading is okay, go to step 3). If reading is not okay, repair short in circuit.
  3. Test resistance on idle speed air valve. Terminal 2 and 3 should read approximately 12 ohms. Terminal 2 and 1 should read approximately 12 ohms. If not okay, replace idle speed air valve. If okay, test is finished.
NOTE: This test is the same for checking idle speed stabilization on vehicles equipped with air conditioning.
