EGR Valve

  1. Apply vacuum (8 in. Hg) to EGR vacuum hose fitting. Release vacuum, EGR valve should be heard to close. This also may be felt by hand. Replace valve if not operating correctly.
  2. Run engine at idle. Apply vacuum (8 in. Hg) to EGR valve. Engine should run rough as valve opens. If not replace EGR valve.
