Boost Pressure Control (6-Cylinder)
Boost pressure control may also be referred to as P-2 control. The boost pressure control valve is mounted on the turbocharger and controlled by the boost pressure control valve vacuum transducer.
A reference map is stored in EDS control unit. Boost pressure values received by EDS control unit relative to injection volume and engine speed generate optimal engine management, maximizing performance and minimizing emissions. See Fig 2 .
Reducing boost pressure during partial load operation reduces particle emissions. EDS control unit contains a closed loop circuit which compares actual boost pressure to a preset specified boost pressure. Any pressure difference is equalized by actuation of boost pressure control valve vacuum transducer.
A boost pressure cut-out switchover valve is activated by the EDS control unit if boost pressure control vacuum transducer fails. Boost pressure cut-out switchover valve will vent boost pressure control valve.
