Fuel Pump

  1. Current Consumption -  On C class, CLK class and E class, go to next step. On ML320, go to step  3 .
  2. On C class, CLK class and E class, disconnect fuel pump relay (K27). On C class and CLK class, fuel pump relay is located in trunk, near battery. On E class, fuel pump relay is located under rear seat. On all models, connect a ammeter between relay sockets No. 2 and 8. Turn ignition on. Amperage should be 4-9 amps. If amperage is within specification, test is complete. If amperage is not within specification, possible cause is fuel pump defective. Repair as necessary.
  3. On ML320, disconnect fuel pump relay (K3). Fuel pump relay is located in fuse and relay module (F1), in left rear corner of engine compartment. Connect a ammeter between relay sockets No. 2 and 8. Turn ignition on. Amperage should be 4-9 amps. If amperage is within specification, test is complete. If amperage is not within specification, possible cause is fuel pump defective. Repair as necessary.
