Description & Operation

All models use a 4-wheel disc brake system. Cable-actuated parking brakes are housed in rear brake rotors. All models have brake pad wear indicator and differential pressure warning indicator. On diesel models, a vacuum pump supplies additional vacuum for power brake unit. Model year 2000 S430 and S500 use electronic proportioning to control brake pressure to rear brakes.
