	Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts		AH00.00-N-0001-01A
	Remove/install
1	Detach ground line from battery		AR54.10-P-0003LF
	Notes on battery		AH54.10-P-0001-01A
2	Unfasten front exhaust system on exhaust manifold		AR49.10-P-7100LF
3	Unscrew nuts (2)
4	Remove screw/bolt (1)	Bolt, starter to crankcase	*BA15.30-P-1003-01J
5	Remove heat shield (3)
6	Detach contact protection (4)
7	Detach electrical line circuit 30 (5)	Nut, connection for terminal designation 30	*BA15.30-P-1001-01J
8	Detach electrical line circuit 50 (6)	Nut, connection for terminal designation 50	*BA15.30-P-1002-01J
9	Detach wiring harness (7) from starter (8)
10	Remove screw/bolt (9)	Bolt, starter to crankcase	*BA15.30-P-1003-01J
11	Remove starter (8) from below
	Check
12	Check ring gear at the drive plate for wear and damage	To do this turn engine at the center bolt of the crankshaft in direction of engine rotation. If there are problems: ↓ Replace drive plate.	AR03.30-P-8001MUB
13	Install in the reverse order
14	Read out fault memory and clear
			AD00.00-P-2000-04B
	Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.	Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.	AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
15	Carry out an engine test run and check engine and fuel system for leaktightness
