Opening Pressure
- Open gauge valve and build up line pressure by slowly depressing handle until nozzle sprays fuel. Repeat operation until accurate opening pressure is established.
- Opening pressure is 1957-2030 psi (137.6-142.7 kg/cm2 ). If opening pressure is not within specifications, correct by replacing adjustment shim. See Fig 1 .
- Shims are available in sizes from .0197" (.50 mm) to .0606" (1.54 mm) in increments of .0016" (.04 mm). Each change in shim thickness alters opening pressure by approximately 69 psi (4.89 kg/cm2 ).
NOTE:
During testing, injector nozzle chatter will vary for each injector. While nozzle chatter is acceptable, a lack of chatter is not criteria for considering the injector to be defective.
