Removal & Installation

  1. Before proceeding, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS in appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. Deactivate air bag system. See DEACTIVATING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. Leave negative battery cable disconnected.
  2. Remove ash tray. Disconnect Restraint Control Module (RCM) harness connectors. Remove 3 RCM mounting bolts and remove RCM from vehicle.
  3. Reverse removal procedure to install. Tighten fasteners to specification. Activate air bag system. See DEACTIVATING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. Check AIR BAG indicator light to ensure system is functioning properly and prove system out.
