Transceiver Module

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Ford Mustang. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Transceiver module communicates with the encoded ignition key. Transceiver module is located on steering column, under steering column covers. See Figure. Transceiver module contains an antenna connected to a electronics module. During each vehicle start sequence, transceiver module reads encoded ignition key identification code and sends data to instrument cluster, control functions are contained in the instrument cluster memory. Transceiver module carries out all of the PATS functions such as receiving the identification code from encoded ignition key and controlling engine enable. Instrument cluster initiates the key interrogation sequence when the vehicle ignition switch is turned to RUN or START position.
