  3. Install an Engine Oil Pressure Gauge.
  4. Start the engine and warm it up to the normal operating temperature.
  5. Check the oil pressure with the engine running under no load. The approximate discharge pressure should be more than 59 kPa (9 psi) at idle, and 412-451 kPa (60-65 psi) at 3200 RPM.
  6. Install the oil pressure sensor with sealant.

  1. Disconnect and remove the oil pressure sensor (9278) from the engine.
  2. Connect the Engine Oil Pressure Gauge to the oil pressure sender oil galley port.
  3. Run the engine until normal operating temperature is reached.
  4. Run the engine at the specified RPM and record the gauge reading.
  5. The oil pressure should be within specifications; refer to SPECIFICATIONS .
  6. If the pressure is not within specification, check the following possible sources:
    • insufficient oil
    • oil leakage
    • worn or damaged oil pump
    • oil pump screen cover and tube (6622)
    • excessive main bearing clearance
    • excessive connecting rod bearing clearance
