Idler Gear: Disassembly

    NOTE: The idler gear bearing must be replaced.

  1. Remove the idler gear bearing cage.
  2. Remove the idler gear bearing inner race.

  3. Check the idler gear shaft for wear or damage. Replace if necessary.
  4. Check the idler gear for wear or damage. Replace if necessary.
  5. Measure the distance between the end of the idler gear and the idler gear bearing inner race. Record this measurement for use during reassembly. The measurement is used for selection of the reduction gear bearing adjusting shim.
