DESCRIPTION
SPEED CONTROL INOPERATIVE
ISSUE
Some 2005 Five Hundred, Freestyle, and Montego vehicles may exhibit intermittent speed control deactivation and/or speed control will not set.
ACTION
Adjust the brake lamp switch to repair. To adjust, the switch must be removed and then reinstalled. Refer to the following Service Procedure. Replacement of the switch is not required.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
NOTE:
THE BRAKE LAMP SWITCH IS THE LOWER (BLACK) SWITCH. THE UPPER (BLUE) SWITCH IS THE SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATE SWITCH.
- Remove the brake lamp switch, by pulling upward lightly on brake pedal and turning the switch clockwise about 1/8 turn (45 degrees).NOTE: IN STEP 2, DO NOT LIFT UP ON THE BRAKE PEDAL DURING REINSTALLATION.
- Release the brake pedal and leave it in the at-rest position. Reinstall the switch by turning it counter-clockwise about 1/8 turn (45 degrees).
