Power Steering Pump: Removal
NOTE:
While repairing the power steering system, care should be taken to prevent the entry of foreign material or failure of the power steering components may result.
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.
- Using a suitable suction device, siphon the power steering fluid from the power steering fluid reservoir.
- Disconnect the power steering pressure (PSP) switch electrical connector.
- Remove the pressure line bracket-to-valve cover stud nut and detach the bracket from the stud.
- Remove the 7 pin-type retainers and the RH splash shield.
- Using the special tool, remove the power steering pump belt from the power steering pump pulley and position it aside.
- Install the special tool between the power steering pump belt and pulley and turn the crankshaft bolt clockwise.
- Release the clamp and disconnect the power steering fluid reservoir-to-pump supply hose from the power steering pump.
- Detach the supply hose retainer from the power steering pressure line bracket.
- Disconnect the fuel efficient power steering (FEPS) solenoid electrical connector.
- Remove the power steering pressure line bracket-to-engine bolt.
- Remove the 3 power steering pump bolts.
- Holding the power steering pump with a punch inserted into a mounting bolt cavity, disconnect the power steering pressure line fitting-to-power steering pump.
