Diagnostic Procedure

The diagnostic procedure is used to test and service the EEC-IV system. It is divided into 2 test formats: QUICK TEST  , a functional system test, and PIN POINT TESTS, a number of specific component tests. To test and service EEC-IV system, perform the QUICK TEST  first.

QUICK TEST  consists of 3 phases, KEY ON/ENGINE OFF  , ENGINE RUNNING  , and CONTINUOUS SELF-TEST  . Perform QUICK TEST  before running any pin point tests. If QUICK TEST  fails, perform only those pin point tests specified by the failed step. After all tests and services have been completed, repeat entire QUICK TEST  .

NOTE: Failure to follow steps in sequence or to perform each step completely can cause misdiagnosis and/or component failure or unnecessary replacement of non-faulty components.
