Front Axle (With Spring Struts): Installation
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 10 other vehicles, including the 2003 BMW 530i, 2003 BMW 525i, 2002 BMW 530i, 2002 BMW 525i, and 2001 BMW 530i. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Raise front axle into place with workshop hoist. If necessary, insert centering pin of support bearing into bore in wheel arch. Replace self-locking nuts and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install left and right bolts. If threads are damaged, they may be repaired with Helicoil inserts. Install inserts so they are flush with original thread. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install lines for steering gear. Replace sealing rings (D). See Fig 1. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install joint to steering gear and tighten clamping screw to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install engine mount screw connection.
- Remove engine support.
- Install brake caliper, ABS pulse sensor line and steering wheel.
- Install heat shield and engine underguard.
