Purpose

This bulletin provides detailed procedures for repairing the emission control system of certain 1987 Precis California certified models equipped with a 3 solenoid carburetor. A letter has been sent to owners of the affected vehicles telling them to return their vehicles to their Mitsubishi Motors Dealer to have the engine serviced. A copy of this letter on page 17 of this bulletin.

Please note that the customer is not to be charged for the repairs covered by this bulletin. All procedures are specified by the California Air Resources Board. Therefore, it is important that the procedure be followed EXACTLY as described in this bulletin.

IMPORTANT

Failure to perform all Recall procedures outfined in this bulletin completely and accurately may lead to emissions non-compliance, customer dissatisfaction, and in some cases require another recall. Confirm that you are using the proper Technical Service Bulletin repair procedures and service kits for the vehicle model year and engine size that you are working on. Service procedures and kits are different even though some vehicles may look alike.
