Purge Control System

  1. Coolant temperature should be 180-190°F (80-90°C). Disconnect purge control hose from air filter. See Fig 1. Blow through hose. Purge control valve should not pass air.
  2. Start engine. Increase engine speed to 1500-2000 RPM. Blow through hose as in step 1). Valve should pass air. If not, check for clogged or broken vacuum hoses or malfunctioning thermovalve.

    CAUTION: Engine should be cool before testing bowl vent valve. Fuel could spray out when bowl vent vapor hose is disconnected.
