Throttle Opener (On-Vehicle)

  1. Start engine and bring operating temperature to 185-205°F (85-95°C). Remove air cleaner. Disconnect Yellow-striped vacuum hose from throttle opener.
  2. Connect a hand vacuum pump to disconnected nipple. Apply 19.4 in. Hg vacuum. Vacuum should hold. Throttle opener rod should be pulled upward.
  3. Start engine. Let idle. With air conditioner switch in the "OFF" position, place finger over disconnected (Yellow-striped) vacuum hose. No vacuum should be felt.
  4. Turn air conditioner switch to the "ON" position. Vacuum should be felt. Raise engine RPM to 1200. Vacuum should not be felt.
