Steering gear is a rack and pinion type. Steering gear is connected to steering knuckles by tie rods. On all models except Van/Wagon, a flexible coupling connects steering column to steering gear pinion shaft. See Fig 1 .
Van/Wagon incorporates a bevel gear and intermediate shaft to transfer steering forces from steering column to rack and pinion.
