Sensor Resistance Test

  1. Before testing sensor resistance, ensure no foreign material has adhered to pole piece at wheel speed sensor tip. Sensor pole can become magnetized and pick up foreign material. Check wheel sensor pole piece for damage. If damaged, replace sensor.
  2. Disconnect sensor connector. Inspect sensor wiring harness for broken and pinched wires. Repair or replace as necessary. Using an ohmmeter, measure sensor resistance at wiring connector. Refer to the WHEEL SPEED SENSOR RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS  table. If resistance is not within specification, replace sensor. If resistance is within specification, go to next step.
    WHEEL SPEED SENSOR RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS

    Application Ohms
    Eclipse 800-1200
    Stealth & 3000GT
    Front 1400-2200
    Rear 1300-2100
  3. Connect speed sensor wiring connector. Disconnect ECU harness connector. Measure resistance between appropriate wheel speed sensor terminals. See the WHEEL SPEED SENSOR TERMINAL ID  table and the WHEEL SPEED SENSOR RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS  tables. If resistance is not within specification, repair harness between ECU and wheel speed sensor.
