System Input

  1. System input tests should be performed if no trouble codes are stored when performing SELF-DIAGNOSTICS. System input tests cycle each cruise control switch and sensor.
  2. Use analog voltmeter or Scan Tester (MUT-II) for system input check. Use scan tester according to operating instructions provided with tester. Using Special Tool (MB991529), connect leads of analog voltmeter between DLC terminal No. 13 (cruise control) and terminal No. 4 or 5 (ground terminals). SeeFigure .
  3. When using scan tester or voltmeter, turn ignition on and main cruise control switch to OFF position. Select a cruise control circuit on scan tester menu. Turn SET switch to ON position. Turn main cruise control switch to ON position.
  4. Within one second, turn RES switch to ON position. Select input test code from scan tester menu. Perform each input test according to INPUT CODES. Read codes.
  5. Each code is displayed in order of priority. If no codes are displayed, control unit, SET switch or RES switch may be at fault. Perform CIRCUIT TESTS NO. 1 and 2. See CIRCUIT TESTS. Turn main cruise control switch to OFF position.
