Steering Column Overhaul: Disassembly

Remove steering column. See STEERING COLUMN R & I under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove joint assembly. Remove boot, cover and bearing. Remove snap ring, stopper and spacer. If removing steering lock, cut the retaining screws with a hacksaw. Remove steering lock and bracket. See Fig 1.

CAUTION: If steering lock is removed, use new steering lock bracket and bolts when reassembling steering lock.
