Code 35, 36, 37 & 38: Wheel Speed Sensor Pulse Processing
NOTE:
Codes 35, 36, 37 & 38 are output if a sensor pulse equal to a vehicle speed of 186 MPH (300 km/h) or more is input to ECU due to ignition noise or excessive axle vibration.
- Inspect condition of suspected wheel speed sensor. Repair or replace as needed. Disconnect suspect sensor(s) harness connector. Using DVOM, measure voltage between each harness connector terminals while rotating wheel at 30-60 RPM. If pulse voltage is 70 mV or greater, go to next step. If voltage is not within specification, replace sensor and retest.
- Inspect sensor harness for damage. Repair harness as needed. Ensure all wheel bearings do not have any perceptible lateral movement. See BRAKE SYSTEM article in the BRAKES section for inspection procedures. If bearings are okay, replace ABS ECU and retest.
