VTSS Test 4C - Trunk Key Cylinder Switch Sense Circuit
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1995 Dodge Stratus and 1995 Chrysler Cirrus. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Perform VTSS TEST 4A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION in BODY CONTROL COMPUTER INTRODUCTION. Perform TEST VER-1A
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Disconnect trunk key cylinder switch 2-pin connector. Ensure connector is clean and not damaged. Connect a jumper wire between cylinder switch connector terminal No. 2 (Violet/Yellow wire) and terminal No. 1 (Black wire). Using scan tool, read trunk key cylinder switch status. If scan tool does not display SWITCH: CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool displays SWITCH: CLOSED, replace trunk key cylinder switch.
- Connect jumper wire between trunk key cylinder switch connector terminal No. 2 (Violet/Yellow wire) and ground. If scan tool does not display SWITCH: CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool displays SWITCH: CLOSED, repair open in Black wire circuit between 2-pin connector and ground.
- Locate BCM 20-pin connector at junction block. See Figure and Figure in CHIME TESTS 2A and 3A. Using a jumper wire, backprobe BCM 20-pin connector terminal No. 1 (Violet/Yellow wire) to ground. If scan tool displays trunk key cylinder SWITCH: CLOSED, repair open in Violet/Yellow wire between BCM 20-pin connector and trunk key cylinder 2-pin connector. If scan tool does not display trunk key cylinder SWITCH: CLOSED, replace BCM.
