Test 33A - Identifying Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) Problems

  1. Always repair an inoperative speedometer before diagnosing an EVIC panel message. If electronic instrument cluster has an inoperative speedometer, go to TEST 34A. If instrument cluster is mechanical, see appropriate ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. If speedometer is okay, go to next step.
  2. Using scan tool, select EVIC. If scan tool displays any warning messages, go to TEST 34A. If scan tool displays NO RESPONSE, go to TEST 125A . If scan tool does not display NO RESPONSE, go to next step.
  3. Using scan tool, select ENGINE NODE. If scan tool displays NO RESPONSE, go to TEST 128A . If scan tool does not display NO RESPONSE, go to next step.
  4. EVIC panel system diagnostics are separated into 3 categories. Verify customer concern and identify problem area before performing appropriate test. See EVIC PANEL SYSTEM TESTS table.
