Test No. 1 (SPYDER)

  1. Verify if power quarter window operates. If power quarter window operates, go to step 5). If power quarter window does not operate, go to next step.
  2. Check power window main and sub-switch. Check left and right side power window motor. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH  and POWER WINDOW MOTOR TEST under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace switch or motor as necessary. If switch and motor are okay, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect harness connector from left and right side power window motor. Check continuity between ground and each power window motor harness-side connector terminals No. 1 and 2. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If continuity is present, check connectors and circuit between power window relay, power window main switch, and power window sub-switch. Repair if necessary. If continuity is not present, go to next step.
  4. Check connectors and circuit between power window main switch and power window motor; between convertible top control module and power window motor; and between power window main switch and convertible top control module. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair as necessary. If connectors and circuits are okay, replace convertible top control module.
  5. Install Scan Tool (MB991502) to DLC. Using scan tool, perform ignition switch input signal test. Follow scan tool manufacturer's instructions. If scan tool buzzer sounds when ignition switch is turned on, go to next step. If scan tool buzzer does not sound when ignition switch is turned on, check circuit between ignition switch and ETACS-ECU. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair if necessary.
  6. Remove power window relay. SeeFigure . Check voltage between ground and power window relay harness-side connector terminals No. 1 and 5. SeeFigure . If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, check connectors and circuit between power window relay and fusible link No. 9. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair if necessary.
  7. Check connectors and circuit between power window relay and power window main switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair if necessary. If connectors and circuits are okay, go to next step.
  8. Check continuity between ground and power window main switch harness-side connector terminal No. 2 (Black wire). If continuity is not present, go to next step. If continuity is present, check circuit between power window relay and ETACS-ECU. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair if necessary. If circuit is okay, replace ETACS-ECU.
  9. Check connectors and circuit between power window main switch and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair if necessary.
