DTC 11 - Generator Field Not Switching Properly

NOTE: For terminal identification, see TERMINAL IDENTIFICATION  in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS section. For circuit and wire color identification, see WIRING DIAGRAMS - 2.0L - NON-TURBO article.
  1. Using scan tool, perform ACTUATOR TEST No. 10 (ASD relay). If ASD relay operation can be heard, go to next step. If ASD relay operation cannot be heard, repair ASD relay circuit.
  2. Disconnect generator field coil connector. Check voltage between ground and generator field coil connector terminal No. 1 while performing ACTUATOR TEST No. 10. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, check wiring harness between generator and ASD relay.
  3. Check continuity between generator terminal No. 2 and generator housing. If continuity exists, repair or replace generator. If continuity does not exist, go to next step.
  4. Check PCM connectors, wiring harness and junction connector between generator and PCM. If wiring and connectors are okay, replace generator.
