Wastegate Control Solenoid Valve Test

  1. Disconnect wastegate control solenoid electrical connector and vacuum hoses. Check solenoid resistance. If resistance is 36-44 ohms at 68°F (20°C), go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace wastegate control solenoid valve.
  2. Connect a vacuum pump to wastegate solenoid where White hose was connected, and apply vacuum. Using a fused jumper wire, energize wastegate control solenoid valve. When nipple where Black hose was connected is opened, vacuum should bleed down. When nipple where Black hose was connected is plugged, vacuum should hold. Disconnect jumper wire at negative battery terminal and de-energize wastegate control solenoid valve.
  3. Apply vacuum to nipple where White hose was connected. When nipple where Black hose was connected is opened, vacuum should hold. If wastegate control solenoid valve operates as described, check valve control circuits. If wastegate control solenoid valve does not operate as described, replace valve.
