Intake Charge Air Pressure Control System Test (Eclipse)

  1. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, check for and record any DTCs. Turn ignition off. Disconnect and plug Black hose from wastegate solenoid. Connect a vacuum pump to wastegate solenoid where Black hose was connected.
  2. Turn ignition on. Apply vacuum to wastegate solenoid. If wastegate solenoid holds vacuum, go to next step. If wastegate does not hold vacuum, replace wastegate solenoid.
  3. Start engine and allow to idle at normal operating temperature. Apply vacuum to wastegate solenoid valve. If wastegate solenoid allows vacuum to bleed off, wastegate solenoid is okay. If wastegate solenoid does not allow vacuum to bleed off, check wastegate solenoid valve. See WASTEGATE CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE TEST . If wastegate solenoid valve is okay, repair valve control circuits.
