Key Interlock System

  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Depress brake pedal and ensure gearshift lever cannot be moved from "P" position. Ensure gearshift lever button cannot be pushed. Turn ignition switch to ACC position. Depress brake pedal and push gearshift lever button. Ensure gearshift lever can be moved from "P" position. Ensure gearshift lever moves smoothly.
  2. Ensure ignition key cannot be turned to OFF position in any gearshift lever position other than "P" position. Ensure ignition key turns smoothly to OFF position when gearshift lever is placed in "P" position and gearshift lever button is released. If key interlock system operation is not as specified, adjust key interlock cable. See KEY INTERLOCK CABLE  under ADJUSTMENTS.
