Anti-Lock/Traction Control: Description
The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) is designed to prevent wheel lock-up during heavy braking. This allows operator to maintain steering control while stopping vehicle in shortest distance possible. Major components are hydraulic unit, wheel speed sensors, Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and ANTI-LOCK warning light. ABS has a self-diagnostic system to indicate a system malfunction and for use in system trouble shooting.
The Traction Control (TCL) system consists of both slip and trace control. Slip control prevents the front drive wheels from spinning excessively when moving off from start or making accelerated turns. This avoids losing the driving force at the front wheels on slippery surfaces. Trace control corrects the tendency of the vehicle to move outward as the vehicle makes a turn at accelerated speed, providing more stable cornering.
