DTC 74 (TCL): Traction Control Electronic Control Module Communication Circuit Failure With Transmission Control Module

NOTE: Transmission Control Module is part of the PCM and can not be replaced separately.
  1. Check traction control ECU harness connector B-113 and Transmission Control module (TCM) harness connectors B-109 and B-110. See Figure and Figure . Repair any damage found. If damage is not found, check trouble symptom. If trouble symptom is found, go to next step.
  2. Check continuity in Brown/White wire between terminal No. 85 at TCM harness connector B-110 and terminal No. 14 at traction control ECU harness connector B-113. Check continuity in Gray/Red wire between terminal No. 84 at TCM and terminal No. 1 at traction control ECU harness connector B-113. Check continuity in Red/Black wire between terminal No. 66 at TCM and terminal No. 39 at traction control ECU. Repair any damage found. If no damage was found, go to next step.
  3. Check TCM for DTCs. If any DTCs exist, see appropriate AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION article. If no DTCs exist, replace traction control ECU. See TRACTION CONTROL UNIT (ECU)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Check trouble symptoms. If trouble symptoms still exist, replace TCM.
