DTC 71 (TCL): Traction Control Electronic Control Module Communication Circuit Failure With Pcm

  1. Check Powertrain Control Module (PCM) harness connector B-110 and traction control ECM for loose connections or damage. See Figure . Repair any damage found. If damage is not found, check trouble symptom. If trouble symptoms are found, go to next step.
  2. Check continuity in Brown/White and Green/Red wires between PCM harness connector B-109 and traction control harness connector B-113. See Figure and Figure . Check continuity in Red/Black wire between PCM harness connector B-109 and traction control ECU harness connector B-114. Repair any damage found. If damage is not found, go to next step.
  3. Connect MUT-II tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Test for any DTCs from PCM. If any DTCs are displayed, see appropriate article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If no DTCs are displayed, replace traction control ECU. Check trouble symptom. If trouble symptom still exists, replace PCM along with traction control
