Fuel Injection Air (FIA) Control Valve (3.2TL)

  1. Ensure that cooling system temperature is below 104°F (40°C). Start engine and allow it to idle. Remove vacuum hose from inlet pipe and connect vacuum gauge. See Fig 1. Raise and lower engine RPM. If vacuum reading fluctuates with engine RPM, go to next step. If vacuum reading does not fluctuate, check for misrouted, leaking, broken or clogged FIA system vacuum lines. Also check for cracked or damaged FIA control valve.
  2. Start engine and run at 3000 RPM, with no loads and transmission in Park or Neutral, until radiator fan comes on. Allow engine to idle. Raise and lower engine RPM. If vacuum reading fluctuates with engine RPM, check for misrouted, leaking, broken or clogged FIA system vacuum lines. Also check for cracked or damaged FIA control valve.
