Test O-17: Lighting Switch Circuit Checks

Turn ignition switch to each position. Check if Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) sets. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If DTC does not set, go to next step. If DTC sets, diagnose DTC.

Disconnect lighting switch 12-pin connector. With lighting switch in indicated positions, check continuity between specified lighting switch connector terminals. See LIGHTING SWITCH CONTINUITY TEST table. See Fig 1 . If lighting switch continuity is not as specified, replace lighting switch and retest system. If lighting switch continuity is as specified, replace column switch or ETACS-ECU and retest system.

NOTE: On retest, lighting switch input signal checks should be okay. Light reminder tone alarm, headlight, headlight automatic shutdown, headlight dimmer switch automatic reset, turn signal lights and foglight should operate normally.
