Test O-4: Hazard Warning Light Switch Circuit Check

  1. Remove hazard warning light switch. Check continuity between hazard warning light switch terminals No. 1 and 2. See Fig 1 . Continuity should exist when hazard warning light switch is pressed. Continuity should not exist when hazard warning light switch is released. If problem exists, replace hazard warning light switch and retest system. If problem does not exist, go to next step.
NOTE: On retest, hazard warning switch input signal check should be okay. Hazard warning light and registering keyless entry encrypted code should operate normally.
  2. Measure resistance between ground and hazard warning light switch connector terminal No. 2 (Black wire). If resistance is less than 2 ohms, go to step  4 . If resistance is 2 ohms or more, go to next step.
  3. Check hazard warning light switch connector for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Check for open in Black wire between hazard warning light switch connector terminal No. 2 and ground. Ground is located behind center of instrument panel on center reinforcement. Repair connector or Black wire as necessary and retest system.
  4. Check hazard warning light switch connector and ETACS-ECU 16-pin connector C-111 for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Check for open or short in Green wire between hazard warning light switch connector terminal No. 1 and ETACS-ECU connector C-111 terminal No. 47. See Figure . If problem exists, repair connector or Green wire as necessary and retest system. If problem does not exist, replace ETACS-ECU and retest system.
